Joseph Dee Pitts July 9, 1929 — April 17, 2023 Tooele Joseph Dee Pitts, 93, passed away peacefully from Natural Causes, in his sleep, during the early morning hours of April 17, 2023, surrounded by family, at the home of Kenneth and Jill Pitts in Tooele, Utah. He was born July 9, 1929, in Richfield, Utah, to Joseph Barclay and Emma (Riding) Pitts. Joseph attended Piute High School and received his GED while serving in the US Army Security Agency in Japan as part of the World War II Occupation Forces. He married his sweetheart, Ilynn Taylor on June 9, 1949 in the Manti, Utah Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They celebrated 73 years of marriage on June 9, 2022. Joseph was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings, including Temple Worker and two full-time Missions to the Philippines with his dear wife, Ilynn. In addition to his parents, Joseph was predeceased by his brothers Robert Thompson Pitts; Joseph Barclay Pitts Jr; Franklin Dewey Pitts; and Daughter-in-law Terri Linn (Schmidt) Pitts. Surviving in addition to his wife, Ilynn (Taylor) Pitts, are his sons, Joseph Michael Pitts (Elaine); David Barclay Pitts; Kenneth Taylor Pitts (Jill); Allen Keith Pitts (Sheryl); and daughter Dianna Lynn Hansen (Chad); 25 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and 4 Nephews. Friends and family may pay their respects to Joe and his family from 10:00 to 11:00 am Saturday, April 22, 2023, at the Tooele 18th Ward Chapel, 1025 West, Utah Ave, Tooele, Utah. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am. Interment and graveside services will be at the Tooele, Utah City Cemetery.
